Dr. Khalid Yousuf is a highly accomplished orthopedic surgeon with extensive expertise in joint reconstruction and orthopedic surgery. As a key member of our team, Dr. Yousuf is dedicated to providing advanced surgical care to underserved communities, with a primary focus on hip and knee replacements. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the prestigious Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, where he received comprehensive training in the latest surgical techniques, including robotic joint replacement, partial knee replacements, and the anterior hip approach.

Following his residency, Dr. Yousuf became board-certified in orthopedic surgery and went on to earn recognition as a Certified Physician Executive by the American Association of Physician Leaders, highlighting his leadership in healthcare. Beyond his clinical work, he is passionate about education and serves as an instructor for the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery Residents course in Arthroplasty, sharing his knowledge and shaping the future of orthopedic care.

Dr. Umar Burney is a renowned orthopedic surgeon with dual board certification in general orthopaedics and sports medicine surgery. As the founding and managing partner of Orthopaedic Specialists of Dallas, he brings a wealth of expertise in joint replacement and sports medicine, serving patients across multiple locations in Texas. Dr. Burney’s journey in medicine began with a secondary education certification from the University of Cambridge in England before earning his undergraduate degree in medical microbiology and immunology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he focused on communicative diseases in the developing world.

He went on to attend Saint George’s University School of Medicine and completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at Louisiana State University Shreveport, where he earned recognition for his excellence in basic science research and anatomy. Following his residency, Dr. Burney completed a prestigious fellowship in sports medicine and joint replacement at McGovern Medical School under leading experts Dr. Leland Winston and Dr. Thomas Clanton.

Dr. Burney’s dedication to healthcare extends beyond the operating room. His passion for global health and philanthropy has driven him to support healthcare initiatives in underserved communities like Pakistan, Gaza, and Honduras, aligning perfectly with our mission to provide critical medical services to those in need.

Dr. Mohammad Adeel Khaleel

Dr. Mohammed “Adeel” Khaleel is a highly skilled and compassionate spinal surgeon with extensive training in minimally invasive and complex spinal surgery. He completed his Orthopedic Surgery residency at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, where he developed a strong foundation in spinal and orthopedic care. Dr. Khaleel further advanced his expertise through the prestigious Harvard Medical School Combined Orthopedic and Neurosurgical Fellowship in Spinal Surgery, one of the leading programs globally for spinal surgery.

Before joining Texas Metroplex Institute for Sports Medicine & Orthopedic Surgery (TMI), Dr. Khaleel served as an Assistant Professor at UT Southwestern Medical Center and Director of Orthopedic Spine Surgery and Spinal Trauma at Parkland Memorial Hospital, one of the largest trauma centers in the world. His clinical focus includes minimally invasive spinal surgery, complex cervical conditions, scoliosis, degenerative disc disease, spinal trauma, and sports spine injuries. He is committed to using the latest technologies, such as spinal navigation and micro-invasive endoscopic techniques, to provide the best possible outcomes for his patients.

Beyond his clinical work, Dr. Khaleel is dedicated to global health, having actively participated in medical missions to underserved regions such as Pakistan and Gaza. His contributions in these areas span both surgical care and leadership, where he collaborates with local healthcare providers to improve access to critical spinal and orthopedic care. Dr. Irfan Ali

Dr. Irfan Ali is a highly skilled and compassionate physician with extensive training and experience in anesthesiology and interventional pain medicine. He completed his Family Medicine Residency at Maine Dartmouth Family Medicine in Augusta, Maine, where he honed his skills as a hospitalist before pursuing advanced training in anesthesiology at the prestigious Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard University. After completing his residency, Dr. Ali spent a year in private practice as an Anesthesiologist before returning to Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard University to complete an Interventional Pain Fellowship, recognized as the top pain medicine fellowship by the American Association of Pain Medicine and the American Pain Society.

Beyond his clinical achievements, Dr. Ali has a deep commitment to global health and has been actively involved in medical missions around the world. He has provided critical care and pain management in underserved regions such as Belize, Cameroon, Pakistan, and Gaza. His experience in these medical missions spans both volunteer service and leadership roles, where he has worked with local healthcare providers to improve access to essential medical care. Through his work in some of the world’s most challenging environments, Dr. Ali has gained invaluable insights into global healthcare needs, furthering his dedication to improving the lives of patients worldwide.

Dr. Atif Ahmed

Atif Ahmed PT, DPT was born and raised in Dallas, Texas and received his Bachelors Degree from Texas A&M University in College Station, TX. He later completed his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from A.T. Still University in Mesa, AZ. Atif also completed an orthopedic residency program specializing in orthopedics and manual therapy through the Institute of Physical Art. He is currently working as an Orthopedic Consultant with Stryker Orthopedics. In addition, Atif also participates in various philanthropic projects. He volunteers at the local ICNA Relief free medical clinic. He also serves as the Dallas chapter president of the Friends of Indus Hospital non-profit organization. Furthermore, Atif participates in the annual GODA mission trip to Pakistan. In his free time he enjoys working out, traveling, coaching basketball, and spending time with his wife and three children.
